Entrepreneurial Traits: Do You Have What It Takes? Part 8

Breaking All The Rules

In becoming a PDR Technician, the rules that you have broken by the time you finish and graduate, are numerous. You have dared to to believe that you can go out into the world and make a difference in this industry and that you have something unique to offer your customers. You have become an entrepreneur and this fact alone puts you into a minority. According to a Babson College Report, only 13 percent of Americans are entrepreneurs.  It’s hard to believe but it’s true. Only 13% have dared to go against the flow and create a road of your own. It could be likened to migrating birds or fish and one bird or fish turning away from the group and going to its own direction. It’s almost unheard of much like only 13% of Americans becoming entrepreneurs.

Having reviewed this example should help you to understand why there are naysayers, why your parents are worried for you, why your wife thinks that you have lost your mind, and why you are losing sleep at night from pure, raw fear of failure. This is the biggest decision you have ever made outside of getting married. If you’re the bread winner in your family all of these things are magnified. As an entrepreneur, you need to focus on what you are accomplishing, not on what you haven’t accomplished. You will need to be disciplined and diligent in your marketing efforts and understand that most business doesn’t come to you, you have to go to it. Be creative in how you accomplish your goals. As an example, as a PDR Technician, you could make a quick half sheet flyer and put it on the cars in a shopping center parking lot, offering your services and say that you are here now if they would like a free estimate. Great idea right?

“King of Car Care” has many simple yet profound ideas. Just give us a call, we’re here to help.
